| Supported Living Services
(SLS) supports those people who would like to live in
their own home but need some support to do so. Different
types of accommodation are available, depending on the
level of support needed by the service user. |
| Each person availing of
supported living has a Circle of Support. This group
comprises of people chosen by the individual. It includes
family members, members of the SLS team and anyone the
individual chooses to be part of it. They meet on the
basis of assessments and following a number of meeting
they draw up a Support Agreement. This Agreement identifies
areas in which the person needs support and how that
support will be provided. |
| There are currently 43
people in our service availing of supported living.
Many of those live in apartments at the Exchange in
Tallaght. However there are many others throughout the
city. |
 |
| Respite support services
afford many people with disabilities their only opportunity
to take a break / holiday while at the same time providing
the families/carers with a break from fulltime caring.
The presence of a respite service is key in helping
the individual remain in the family home for as long
as possible. We provide respite to individuals over
18 years of age, on a 24/7 basis, in a home from home
setting, making it an enjoyable and relaxed time for
the individual in an environment where the family can
be confident that their family member's needs are being
well catered for. |
| The staffing teams consist
of Social Care Workers both at Saint Johns and Copperbeech
Respite Services and in our Respite Service at Venegas
Porch Tallaght, qualified nursing and care staff, all
work together to offer a comprehensive, holistic programme
to all service users and their families, through regular
contact and updating of service users care requirements,
which incorporates the enhancement of social care skills,
social outings, personal planning in a person centered
supportive environment. |
|
| Angels Quest located in
Exchange Hall in Tallaght, is our newest respite facility.
It offers the opportunity for children from various
service providers throughout the South Western community
care areas region to avail of short breaks. It presently
has 6 beds in operation. Children who avail of this
respite would continue to attend their own day service
during the day. The mission of the nurses and care assistants
working there is to provide meaningful and enjoyable
breaks for children and their families in a safe setting.
It can cater for children with significant levels of
disability. |
